About me
Helen McDonald is the Clinical Services Manager at DC Rape Crisis Center. Helen provides trauma-informed therapeutic services to survivors of sexual violence and manages the Clinical Programming. Prior to working with DCRCC, Helen worked as the Youth Education and Outreach Specialist for the Fairfax County Division of Domestic and Sexual Violence Services, offering school and community-based education to youth and adults about healthy relationships, teen dating violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual violence. Through engaging workshops, role-playing, movement-based activities, and discussion groups, Helen seeks to build awareness specifically about gender and interpersonal violence, while also highlighting the ways that larger systems of oppression, like racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. play a role in the ways people and communities experience violence. Helen takes a holistic, trauma-informed, and client/youth-centered approach to violence prevention and advocacy.
