Peer Education as Creation: Building Cultures of Consent
Saturday November 23, 2024 11:00am - 12:00pm EST
This workshop is designed to explore the concept of using peer education and support to foster cultures of consent. Drawing upon insights from the socio-cultural importance of youth-to-youth support systems and the history of historically marginalized and impacted groups creating tools to transform their lived experiences, this workshop addresses societal norms and attitudes that impact sexual education and offers a space for participants to create (or re-create) their own practices for teaching others about consent. By reimagining sex education and our understanding of consent, we can empower individuals to challenge harmful norms and create environments that prioritize respect, empathy, and cultures of consent.

Beyond the Binary: Intersectional Approaches to Challenging Patriarchal Oppression
Saturday November 23, 2024 12:50pm - 1:50pm EST
Experiences of sexual violence are not limited by gender, and yet gender-based stigmas often complicate the healing process for survivors.  Understanding how gender-based stigma impacts healing experiences requires an investigation of the intersections of gender, survivorship, and the role of patriarchal oppression. Join us to explore the relationship between gender and survivorship and to effectively join the struggle against patriarchal oppression, across the gender spectrum.
